Anguish

At the last HWC meeting John read out a poem which he had written many years ago. He felt he could at last read it out.

It was written in an attempt to portray the anguish a man might feel if he discovered that he had fathered a child some years earlier and had never been told of the child's existence.

WHY
Why oh why did you not tell
when this baby girl appeared?
My life was barren when you went
and I had no reason why.

I spent my years in passion’s tears
fighting for my causes.
But the one great cause
I couldn’t fight, was you.

My love, my first great love,
tell me why oh why did you
deny to me my daughter fair
and is she lost forever?

My passion’s spent, my causes won
and I have longed for rest.
But now I’ve found that she exists
I’ve found my one last cause

  1. A beautiful poem from your Soul which must have taken great courage to write. Elise
